Sports Physiotherapy in Frankfurt – Systematic Supplementary Training for Athletes
Regain full load-bearing capacity after rehab or physiotherapy – or proactively prevent overuse injuries: At the Lämmerhirt practice, we support active athletes with structured supplementary training that truly fits your sport.
The Method
Sports physiotherapy is physiotherapy viewed through a sports-oriented lens: it involves not just looking at symptoms, but understanding movement under load – and using that insight to develop a structured progression. Our focus is less on the standard "return-to-sport" program and more on what is often missing afterward: movement quality, precise coordination, and robust motor control.
How we work
To achieve this, we combine analysis, targeted physiotherapeutic stimuli, and active conditioning. A particular focus is placed on GYROTONIC® movement principles and equipment as a form of supplementary training – precise, controlled, and highly effective for properly developing complex movement chains such as trunk rotation, the shoulder girdle, and leg alignment.
Typical goals
Improve movement quality and coordination under load, build controlled strength and stability in a sport-specific manner, prevent overuse injuries, and bridge the gap between "possible again" and "reliable again."

How we use sports physiotherapy
Our sports physiotherapy services are ideal for you if you are physically active and wish to work specifically on resilience, coordination, and movement control – often as a next step following medical treatment or to address recurring issues related to physical strain. We do not base our approach on specific methods, but rather on what makes functional sense for achieving your goals.
Common topics we help with
Build resilience
Increase in a structured way – without doing "too much too soon" – using a clear plan and a logical progression.
Coordination & Movement Patterns
Smooth movement flow, better control – for movements that function reliably again under load.
Stability & Controlled power
Sport-specific, functional, intuitive – focusing on clean technique rather than volume.
Sports Transfer
Choose exercises that truly suit your sport – not just any program, but *your* program.
Supplementary training with GYROTONIC®
Precise coordination, controlled force generation, and fluid movement – especially for complex kinetic chains such as the torso, shoulder girdle, or leg axis.
Preventing overload
Identify weaknesses in movement patterns early on and address them in a targeted manner – before irritation becomes a chronic issue.
Supplementary components
Suitable components that we can add depending on the goal:
Your treatment process
To ensure you don’t have to switch back and forth between treatment and training, our approach follows a clear path: first, we understand what your movement requires under load – and build from there.
Step 1 | Medical History & Analysis
We clarify your goals, sport, and training loads, as well as your history – and assess movement quality, control, and relevant factors such as the trunk, shoulder girdle, and leg alignment.
Step 2 | Targeted Impulses
Targeted physiotherapeutic components directly linked to active elements that improve control and movement quality.
Step 3 | Supplementary training with GYROTONIC®
Where appropriate, we use the GYROTONIC® System: for precise coordination, controlled strength building, and fluid movement – with clear guidance and sensible progression.
Step 4 | Integration & Progression
We apply this to your daily life and your sport – with a training plan that you can realistically implement.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
Didn't find what you were looking for? We would be happy to assist you personally.
What does sports physiotherapy entail at your practice?
Physiotherapy with a sports focus – analysis, targeted stimuli, and active conditioning to make movement under load safer and more reliable again.
Is this just for elite athletes – or also for recreational athletes?
For both. What matters is not your level, but your goal and your current capacity. We meet you right where you are.
What can I expect at the first appointment?
We begin with a consultation and analysis – covering goals, the type of sport, physical demands, and movement quality. We will discuss the next steps during the session itself.
Is GYROTONIC® beneficial for athletes?
It can be very beneficial as a form of supplementary training – especially for coordination, fluidity of movement, and controlled strength development. We can determine whether it is the right fit based on your goals.
Will I get exercises for home or for training?
Yes. You will receive exercises that suit your goal and can be incorporated into your daily routine or training.
Do I need a prescription?
Physiotherapy can be prescribed by a doctor. If you have private health insurance, are a self-paying patient, or hold supplementary insurance, we will openly discuss which options are suitable.
What should I bring to the first appointment?
If available: referral/prescription, relevant test results, and comfortable clothing. Note: As some people are sensitive to scents, we ask that you refrain from wearing strong perfume. Please feel free to contact us if you are unsure.
